Reader Lucy Valena sends us a picture of her tomato soup cake, baked according to the recipe in M. F. K. Fischer’s How to Cook a Wolf. She assures me it’s not nearly all that bad, more “like a fruitier carrot cake without the textural intrigue.” As for me, I’m totally confused. I have no idea how to categorize this. We all learned in school that tomatoes were not veggies, but fruits… so is this basically a fruit cake? Is it fusing so much it’s basically normal? Whatever it is, I bet it would go great with a sour cream frosting…
